What is USB? Details about USB :

The short form of Universal Series Bus device is USB. It is widely used to provide connections to various devices such as mobile phones, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice and many other electronic devices. It is also being used extensively to charge current smartphones.

In 1994, six companies – Microsoft, Compaq, Norton, DEC, Intel, NEC and IBM – worked together to create and develop USB 1. However, USB 1.0 was first released in January 1997 and had a data crossing speed of only 0.1875MB. Since then many computer companies have started adding USB to their machines. However, since the use of iMac USB in 1998, it has become popular.

USB version:

USB 1.0: In January 1998, USB 1.0 was the first version, but due to some issues, USB 1.1 came out very quickly. Which can run 1.5 Mbps on low bandwidth and 12 Mbps on full bandwidth.

USB 2.0: Next came April 2.0 USB 2.0 which was the fastest usb. It supports 480Mbps data transfer rate. USB 2.0 is a bit more popular because we have at least 2 USB 2.0 ports on our laptops or desktops.

USB 3.0: 2009 comes with USB 3.0 version which can transfer 5 gigabytes per second or even more data at times. It is basically designed for low power and advanced protocols. In 2013 USB 3.0 was upgraded to USB 3.1 which offers super speed USB. Because it can transfer data up to a maximum of 10 gigabytes. The latest is USB 3.2, which can transport up to 20 gigabytes of data per second.

Different types of USB ports:

The question may arise in your mind, if you do 1 type of design, the problem will be solved. What is the need to do so many types of USB? . In fact, the functionality of each design is different. And different types of types are created to keep up with the newer devices. I’m going to talk about the most common USB sticks here.

TYPE-A: Most cables have type-A connectors at the end. Most peripherals, such as keyboards and mice, have a type A connector. Personal computers usually have more than one type a port. In addition, a type A port is used on various devices and chargers for data transmission and charging.

TYPE-B: Connector type b is almost like a square. Printers or similar devices use this port. It is not as widely used as type A.

Mini-USB: Before the advent of Micro USB, the Mini USB was the standard connector for mobile devices. And as the name implies it is smaller in size than regular USB. Ethan is also using it in some cameras.

Micro-USB: It is currently being used as a standard connector in various mobile or portable devices.

Type-C: It can transmit power and data faster than its predecessor. It is currently being used in various laptops, mobiles and tablets.

USB On-The-Go (OTG): USB On-The-Go (OTG) is very new. Which usually allows different mobile and portable devices to behave as a host. Suppose you have a smartphone and a laptop. In this case, by connecting via OTG cable, you can easily connect your phone to 1 external device of the laptop and make firewall.

What is a USB port?

The usb port connects to usb devices and facilitates data exchange between them. And it is also capable of providing the necessary power supply.

What is a USB hub?

A usb hub is a device that extends 1 usb port across multiple ports so that more devices can be connected. In the language of computer science, a hub is a single node that provides multiple links through the view of a port. For example, if your laptop has only 2 USB ports, you can add more than two USB devices by adding a hub if needed.

How many devices can be connected to 1 via USB?

A single USB network can make up to 128 connections. However, if you have more than one USB controller in 1 PC, you will be able to take 128 connections in each. However, if you put so many together, it will be difficult to get the necessary power.
